Because there is not much tradition behind the sport in the USA it has never gotten a proper foothold. Also because the modern handball is quite "new" it has not been "exported" that well to the USA. You would probably need a massive marketing campaign in schools to build a young player-base.

No real answer to why it isn't popular at all though. It's a kinda popular sport among some people. The problem is, most people would rather play basketball, baseball, soccer, football, and a lot of other sports above that. So, it's difficult to find people to play handball with.

Handball is a popular sport in Northern Europe. The question is why is it not more popular. Like most other minor sports it is difficult to get exposure because they are indeed minor sports and are swamped by the media exposure given to major sports especially in North America.

Well, while I concur that Curling is not a sport and the World’s Strongest Man is a silly, albeit strangely compelling competition, the sad fact is, is that those sports have a greater following in the United States. In fact, depending on how you want to define a sport’s popularity, Team Handball is down in the pecking order in the rest of the world as well. An oft-quoted comment is that Team Handball is the world’s second most popular sport after, of course, soccer. I’m not the ...

Why Racquetball Is Not Popular Racquetball reached peak popularity from its inception in the 1950s until the 1980s. This was largely responsible due to the founder’s promotion of the sport as well as the increased interest in fitness in the 1970s. Because of this, demand increased for equipment, and racquet clubs began to form.

So, why if soccer is the most popular sport in the world it is not in this way in the United States? Because they are not the best at it: This is the most straight forward answer I can give. Americans like the sports that they are the best at: Baseball (a world series that is played between two american teams), Basketball (have won most of the gold olympic medals), American Football (Only played in the United States). If they can’t be the best at soccer, then probably there is something ...

  • Handball is unpopular in some countries due to its lack of media coverage. It is also a new sport, with the first set of rules written in 1906. Other variables such as sponsorships and corruption play their part in its lack of popularity. Why is handball unpopular?
